ADHESIVES

These adhesives can be applied to all aluminum nameplates and .010 polycarbonate.

Helpful Hint: A 2 mil thick adhesive is ideal for smooth surfaces on plates with a thickness of .003 to .020. A 5 mil thick adhesive is ideal for rough or textured surfaces, plates that need to conform to a radius surface, or plates that are .032 or greater in thickness.

3M 467MP: 3M 467MP adhesive is a 2 mil thick adhesive and is a popular choice for product identification adhesion. It has excellent quality, consistency and durability. This adhesive has excellent high temperature performance as well as excellent shear strength that minimizes edge lifting and slippage of parts. 3M 467MP has excellent resistance to harsh environments and can withstand splashes of organic solvents, weak acids and bases and salt water, cleaning solutions, germicidals, disinfectants, oils, etc. It performs well after exposure to humidity and hot/cold cycles. Bond strength increases substantially with natural aging. 3M 9460 is recommended for high temperature applications (up to 500 degrees F) on primarily smooth surfaces. 3M 9472: 3M 9472, also known as 300LSE, is a hi-strength acrylic adhesive that provides a very high bond strength to most surfaces. It bonds extremely well to low surface energy plastics including polystyrene, polypropylene, polyethylene, and powder paints. It can also adhere to surfaces lightly contaminated with oil. Humidity, UV, water, and many chemicals do not affect performance. The temperature range of this adhesive is -40 degrees F to 300 degrees F (short term). 3M 583: 3M 583 adhesive is 2 mils thick and is a flexible heat or solvent activated dry film adhesive composed of synthetic elastomer, thermoplastic and thermosetting resins. The film softens or flows when either heat or solvents are applied and provides a strong, permanent bond to the surface to which it is applied.
