ADHESIVES
These adhesives can be applied to all aluminum nameplates and .010 polycarbonate or .010 PVC.
3M 467MP
2 mils thick
Best for flat, smooth surfaces
Excellent temperature resistance -31F to 400F (300F long term)
Excellent shear strength minimizing edge lifting and slippage
Can withstand splashes of organic solvent, weak acids and bases, salt water, cleaning solutions, germicidals, disinfectants, oils.
Performs well after exposure to hot/cold cycles and humidity
Lowest in cost
Not recommended for powder coated surfaces or low surface energy plastics

3M 9472LE (a/k/a 3M 300LSE)
5 mils thick
Flat, curved, or textured surfaces
Ideal for powder coated surfaces and low surface energy plastics (i.e. polypropylene, polyethylene, polystyrene...) or surfaces lightly contaminated with oil
Temperature resistance -40F to 300F (short term)
Humidity, UV, water, and many chemicals do not affect performance
Excellent solvent, water and environmental resistance

3M 583
2 mils thick
Flexible heat or solvent activated dry film composed of synthetic elastomer, thermoplastic and thermosetting resins.
Film softens or flows when either heat or solvents are applied and provides a strong, permanent bond. Capable of a structural type bond if properly applied.
Not used as often as pressure-sensitive adhesives.

Tip of the Trade: 2 mil thick adhesives are ideal for smooth surfaces on plates with a thickness of .003 to .020. 5 mil thick adhesives are ideal for rough or textured surfaces, plates that need to conform to a radius surface, or plates that are .032 or greater in thickness. We recommend testing samples in critical applications.
